Become a friend

Pātaka has a renowned and respected place in New Zealand’s art scene, and an international reputation.

The Friends of Pātaka was established to celebrate and support the gallery. Friends are provided with a range of special opportunities while at the same time supporting and heralding the work of the gallery. The Friends group provides a background for the enjoyment and understanding of the range of exhibitions and activities that Pātaka presents.

In March 2009 the Friends purchased a Pauline Morse painting, which now hangs in Te Rauparaha Arena, and we maintain a courtyard garden for visitors to enjoy.

The gallery benefits all who visit but as a Friend you have the opportunity to become more closely involved with Pātaka's exhibitions. You can talk to the artists, attend special exhibition previews and floor talks, and meet others who share your passion for arts and culture in Porirua City.

Friends of Pātaka Arts Trail 2021

A community festival that takes everything from painting and weaving to 3D printing, printmaking and textiling, and displays it across Porirua city, returns 13 -14 March 2021.

The Arts Trail will include a wide range of artists exhibiting in 16 studios and 8 large hubs. As in previous years, some of the major hubs will be Pātaka, the Gear Homestead Woolshed, and Mana Arts Society. But this time there will also be community hubs, where local artists gather to exhibit and to sell their work.

Download the 2021 brochure here and join this exciting event, or collect your brochure from Pātaka from 8 February.

For more information go directly to the Friends website here.
