It will at times spill into Pātaka’s central spine to accommodate participatory experiences, such as Vivien Atkinson’s thoughtful ‘Palimpsest’ project, where she creates jewellery pieces from her wedding dress while wearing it.
OCCUPATION: Artist members started collaborating in 2013 to support and empower each other’s solo working processes. Our collective persona leverages opportunities that are not possible individually: actions and disruptions jolt us out of what might become inward-looking, autonomous practices.
Through group projects like Give+Take we seek to raise the public profile of contemporary jewellery by fostering critical discourse and sparking connection between artist, object, and audience. We seek to uplift what contemporary jewellery can be, and challenge and engage our audiences accordingly.
Occupation: ARTIST members are Vivien Atkinson, Becky Bliss, Vernon Bowden, Justine Fletcher, Sarah Read, Nadine Smith, Caroline Thomas and Lisa van Hulst.
