Years 1-13 90 min

Free for Porirua schools, or $2 per child per programme.

This is a permanent programme for a maximum number of 30 students per session

Travel (visually) with us around Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Pacific Ocean as we look at how tapa bark-cloth has travelled to our shores. In this programme we focus on the motifs and materials used in Hiapo printing from Nuie. Your ākonga will explore some of the tapa in our education collection and relevant exhibitions to learn about the bark cloth, and create their own printed artwork using printing blocks inspired by Hiapo printing.
