Pataka is one of only three venues nationally to host the touring exhibition of 23 rd Wallace Art Awards winners and finalists, the premier contemporary art awards in New Zealand. This annual awards exhibition provides a snapshot of what is happening nation-wide in the contemporary art scene.
With cash and overseas travel prizes totalling more than $195,000, the Wallace Art Awards provide great opportunities for four winners each year by way of residencies at leading international art institutions in Europe and the United States. This year 524 applications were received, with 90 of those entries selected as finalists.
