EyeSpace

Linda Gilbert

1 September - 8 October 2017

Toi Gallery

Linda Gilbert enlists the most appropriate medium to express her artistic ideas.

For ‘EyeSpace’ Linda researched optometry, the cosmos and submerged herself in documentaries about outer space.

About the artist

Linda drew pencil and digital sketches, took photographs and manipulated them digitally, before finally making the paintings.

Linda’s art reflects cultural narratives – in this case new technology, art and science. She favors abstract dreamscapes rather than literal representation, so viewers can interpret them according to their own feelings and experience.

Linda has studied art at the Learning Connexion, Otago School of Fine Art and many night classes. This is Linda’s fourth solo show, and she has participated in 16 group shows. Her work is held in national and international private collections.

Linda was born in Grey Lynn in the 1960s, moved to Wellington in the early 1990s and lives in Porirua (which she loves because it of its rich cultural diversity and beautiful landscape).
