Paul started using clay ten years ago and was initially inspired by Staffordshire figurines and Toby jugs. More recently he has explored self portraiture using symbolic masks. In 2012 he made his first work in burnt matches, a medium usually associated with ‘prison art’. Conceptually, Paul enjoys combining lo-brow media with hi-brow aspirations.
Mark’s sculptural ceramic works over the last ten years have included subversive celebrity portraits and anthropomorphic animal figures. He has also undertaken a series of photographic studies of dolls and toy monkeys, inspired by childhood studio photographs. Most recently he has moved into latch-hook rug-making, stretching the boundaries of this most traditional of crafts.
