Refugee answers these questions with a series of facts and figures about refugees around the world, including interviews with refugees who have resettled in Porirua.

Alongside the exhibition, evocative black and white images of hundreds of Afghan refugees fill the gallery. Having no passports, identification documents or possessions, these people were processed as refugees entering Iran from war-torn Afghanistan. The photographs were taken as part of their registration process.

New Zealand currently takes up to 750 refugees each year, a figure that has not been reached in recent years despite the quota being only one fifth (per population) of Australia’s refugee intake.
