Te Aka

Te Aka refers to the vine that grows in the Ngahere. Here we use it as a metaphor to connect The New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute with the motu.

This exhibition will display works from The New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute Collection and the Institutes Ahua Gallery. Items selected for this show will be a range of stone, bone and wood carvings that evoke the makers journey toward excellence.

We hope the exhibition connects to whānau, hapu and iwi as well as our extended communities, in a positive way that inspires future rangatahi who dream of becoming a creative asset for their whanau and iwi.
