It’s a popular misconception that watercolours are pale, insipid works painted by genteel Victorian ladies. Watercolour New Zealand hopes to challenge this assumption with this exhibition. From a small group of artists in Wellington in 1975, Watercolour New Zealand has grown to a national organisation of 400 members. We promote the art of watercolour through our popular annual Splash exhibitions, monthly outdoor painting groups, a quarterly newsletter and workshops conducted by tutors from both New Zealand and overseas. The exhibition features a variety of works from some of New Zealand’s best known watercolour artists.
Each weekend throughout the exhibition run, members will demonstrate the art of watercolour painting in the gallery between 11.30 and 2pm.
