Unwearable Art

Sharon Painter-Arps

Unwearable Art is a personal commentary on the extremes women put themselves through to be attractive and socially acceptable. Sharon’s earlier work which focused on cross culture and social identity gives background to her later work with addresses the current fashion for high heels which has the wearer teetering on the tips of their toes, the wearing of fake finger nails and false eyelashes. These items fashioned in stone take on a whole new meaning and speak of the discomfort and difficulty in wearing.
