Lighting the Collection

Tūrama – Lighting the collection looks at the significance of light as a tool for artists to reflect on their place in the world.

Many of the artists bring light into the gallery literally, with the flick of a switch. For others, light is an inspiration, a metaphor, or a means of examining history and whakapapa.

Technology connects traditional practice with new materials and techniques. The play of light offers an opportunity for reflection and contemplation.

Tūrama shines a light on a selection of works from Pātaka’s art collection, providing an opportunity to explore and enjoy the taonga of Porirua.
